Mick was
born in
Windsor, NSW
and grew up
in the
little
town
of Riverstone
where he
still
resides till
this
day.
The youngest
of four
kids, Mick
was the only
one to
take any
interest in
music.
Spending
lots of time
learning to
play guitar
through his
school
years,
listening to
his parents'
Tex Morton
and
Slim Dusty
records,
Mick always
had a
penchant for
country
music in the
true sense
of the term.
During his
learning
years Mick
branched out
into other
forms of
music to
broaden his
horizons and
was heard
to be
playing many
styles of
music from
traditional
country
right
through to
raucous Rock
and Roll,
encompassing
most genres
of music in
between as
well!
After many
years of
playing
mostly
commercial
rock/
pop music in
pubs and
clubs, Mick
finally saw
the light
and came
back to his
traditional
roots of
Country
Music.
Mick was a
founding
member of
the Country
Rock band
"Rough
Stock" and
it was while
playing for
them he
came in
contact with
another band
named
"Southbound"
in Tamworth
in 1998. A
good
friendship
was formed
which still
stands
today.
After
leading his
own band
"the Change"
for several
years, Mick
found
himself
touring on
the Brian
Young
Show playing
bass.
After this
Mick played
bass for
Travis
Collins for
several
years before
deciding to
take a break
from music
for a while.
Typically,
no rest for
the wicked
as not long
after this
he received
a call from
Todd
Atkinson...
Mick has a
fantastic
love of the
great
outdoors and
spends a
heck of a
lot of his
spare time
out there
enjoying it,
whether it
be up in the
Victorian
High Country
or fishing
at Bermagui
on the NSW
South Coast.
To quote
Mick: "Being
part of
Southbound
is a
pleasure, to
make great
music with
great mates
and have
some great
fun along
the way!"
